Request a Research Guide
Research guides can be created for individual classes or specific class assignments. If you feel a research guide would help your students with their assignments, please consult with your library liaison.

Library Services

Reference Services

If you need help with any kind of research, the librarian can meet with you, either by appointment or by walk-in as available. During this meeting, we will guide you through relevant resources to find the information you need. We can also help you develop successful search strategies and/or organize your research. (Please try to make appointments at least 48 hours in advance.)

Instruction

Faculty can request library instruction sessions as needed. The librarian can come to your classroom, or you can bring your class to the library! Sessions vary in length and specific subject matter, but topics generally include: research strategizing, resource recommendations (including books, databases, and websites), and information on avoiding plagiarism, evaluating information, and citations. We can tailor each class session to meet your needs, and are happy to focus on a specific assignment or topic.

Study Spaces

Need a place for group study?  The library has an attached classroom, shared with the ILC.  If this room is not otherwise in use, groups may ask to use it so that they may work together. In addition, the library itself encourages quiet study so as to be respectful to other users. We have several work tables, as well as individual study carrels.

Printing, Copiers, Faxes and Scanners

There is a printer/copier located in the library that is available to all students. It will also scan and send images to your email. At this time there is no fax machine in the library or on campus. There is currently no charge for printing or photocopying, but we do ask that you use resources wisely.

Computers & Laptops

We currently have 12 computers available for use. During the week, laptops can be checked out for 3 weeks. Renewals must be made in person. Please see the desk for more information.

Reserve Materials

Instructors often place materials on hold in case students cannot obtain their textbooks, or forget to bring them to school. These items are located behind the desk and are for in-library use only. All reserve materials must be checked out using a valid student ID.

Interlibrary Loan

Can’t find a book in our library? Check out Interlibrary Loan. The library can borrow books from any of the other Wake Tech Libraries or from CCLINC, the Community College Library Consortium.

In the library catalog, click Place Hold on any item, enter your seven digit student ID and your PIN (1234). We will email and/or call you when your book arrives.
