Makerspace

Rules for using the SNWC makerspace, sign up link, equipment list, tutorials, and waiver.

Makerspace Room Hours:

  • The makerspace is undergoing changes this summer and is currently unavailable for large equipment and room use. Some smaller items may be checked out for in library use only.
  • Check the "Makerspace Room Reservation" link below to see current schedule. Students staff and faculty may reserve a spot ahead of time. Community users and users without a reservation may use the space and equipment on a first come, first serve basis as space allows. Maximum of two guests and one makerspace monitor in the room at a time.
    • Some equipment can be checked out for three (3) hour use outside the Makerspace room during specified hours. Please speak with makerspace staff for questions and assistance with these items.
  • Saturday and Sunday the library and all spaces are closed

Requirements

All students, staff, faculty, and guests must review the orientation video and sign a liability waiver before entering the Makerspace room. Please see staff with any questions or concerns you may have.

*To access the makerspace, all individuals must show their Wake Tech ID card or community borrower card and photo ID at the entry level main service desk.*

Basic Orientation - 6 minute introduction to the space and equipment.

Liability Waiver - signed copy on file with the library/Makerspace before use any equipment from Makerspace.

General Expectations

In order to ensure the best quality experience for everyone please adhere to the following expectations:

  • You will need to complete the liability waiver and orientation video before using the Makerspace.

  • Follow all makerspace rules, library policies, Wake Tech policies, and any state and federal laws when using the Makerspace. 

  • Speak with staff if you have any questions regarding equipment settings or supplies.

  • Use safety gear and follow all safety guidelines as posted or otherwise instructed.

  • Report all accidents or injuries to makerspace staff regardless of severity.

  • Use of specific equipment is at the discretion of makerspace staff.

  • Remember to clean up after yourself and return all equipment to its proper location.

  • Please use proper filename conventions (shown here: File Naming LibGuide at Iowa State University) when naming files to be processed by our equipment (3d printers, large-format printer, etc.).

  • Be mindful of others at all times.
