The Human Services Technology (HST) curriculum prepares students for entry-level positions in institutions and agencies that provide education and social and community services. Emphasis is placed on the development of relevant knowledge, best practice skills, and human services attitudes. Fieldwork experience provides opportunities to apply knowledge gained in the classroom.
Wake Tech offers the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in Human Services Technology, with concentrations in Human Services or Substance Abuse. Individuals who already have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a human services-related field may enroll in the Substance Abuse Certificate program to pursue certification through the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB).
Wake Tech’s HST program has been approved by the Council for Standards in Human Services Education. Graduates qualify for positions in mental health, childcare, family services, social services, rehabilitation, corrections, residential services, and educational agencies.
