In North Carolina, the licensing of estheticians is overseen by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Art Examiners. To qualify as a licensed skin care professional in the state, you must:

  • Complete a certified esthetics program consisting of 600 hours of training 
  • Pass both the written and practical exams required for esthetician licensure
    • Must pass with a 75% or higher
