Economics at WTCC

At lease one economics class is required for Business & Public Services Technologies majors and can be used as a Social/Behavioral Science elective for other programs of study. WTCC offers three classes in accounting: ECO-151 - Survey of Economics; ECO-251 - Principles of Microeconomics; and ECO-252 - Principles of Macroeconomics.

Wake Technical Community College Economics Club

The Economics Club is one of the most active student organizations at WTCC.

From the Economics Club's website (opens in a new window), the purpose of this organization is to:

  1. Inform members of the significance of economics and its role in the modern world.
  2. Provide opportunities for the students to interact in learning situations outside of the classroom.
  3. Provide opportunities for students to participate in adult learning-oriented activities.
  4. Encourage a deeper understanding of the inner-workings of commerce and trade beyond the textbook and into real world practice.
  5. Promote intercultural relations, tolerance, and trade.
  6. Improve students' desire for entrance into economics-related occupations and establish intrinsic rewards for a students desire to develop self motivated learning.

There are many helpful resources available online.

On the Articles page, you will find links to useful databases the library subscribes to for your research needs. Many articles are available full-text and can be accessed from home using your key account log in information (the same user name and password you use to log on to Blackboard and the my.waketech website).

The Internet Resources page includes useful websites, professional associations, and news resources. This page also includes an online resource evaluation chart used to evaluate the accuracy and helpfulness of a website.
