NC Early Voting and Election Day Voting


Early Voting

Early Voting begins Thursday, October 17th 2024 and ends November 2nd 2024. There are many different sites that will be open for early voting, such as libraries, rec centers, churches, and colleges. During the Early Voting period, voters can register to vote and vote on the same day using same day registration.

To find an early voting site near you, use the link below or search the PDF. Enter your county of residence on the Early Voting Website and locations open for early voting will populate.

Voting on Election Day

If you are voting on Election Day, you must vote at your assigned voting location. You will not be allowed to vote elsewhere. Polling places are open from 6:30am to 7:30pm. To find your assigned voting location, enter your information on the Voter Search website or the Election Day Polling Place Search website.

Photo ID Requirements for NC


Voters will be asked to show photo ID when voting in North Carolina!

  • List of acceptable IDs:
    • North Carolina driver’s license
    • State ID from the NCDMV (also called “non-operator ID”)
    • Driver’s license or non-driver ID from another state, District of Columbia, or U.S. territory (only if voter registered in North Carolina within 90 days of the election)
    • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport card
    • North Carolina voter photo ID card issued by a county board of elections 
    • College or university student ID approved by the State Board of Elections 
      • Your WTCC ID is acceptable as long as it is current and has a photo on it.
    • State or local government or charter school employee ID approved by the State Board of Elections
    • Military or veterans ID card (with photo) issued by the U.S. government
    • Tribal enrollment card (with photo) issued by a tribe recognized by the State of North Carolina or the federal government (opens in new window)
